Welcome to the CCNY OER Workshop!

A Note from the Provost

Dear Faculty Colleagues,

Thank you for your efforts to learn about the important OER initiative at City College. By exploring and engaging with OER course materials, you can provide excellent and accessible content for students, reducing the cost of their education and smoothing their path to academic success.

The OER initiative at City College and across the University advances our historic mission of access to excellence. Thank you for seeking OER for your students!

Best regards,
Tony M. Liss, Provost

About OER at CCNY

The OER initiative at the City College of New York (CCNY) aims to increase education affordability by lowering textbook costs for students and supporting the use and creation of freely available educational materials on campus. We train instructors across departments to find and develop OER courses as well as provide technical assistance on building open course sites.

Our funding comes primarily from the OER Scale Up Initiative, a grant from New York State launched in 2017 to fund the growth of OER on CUNY campuses. Over the past three years, over 150 instructors at CCNY have converted over 300 of their sections to use OER.
